We offer atmospheric events in winter, with a special atmosphere awaiting our guests in our AMRIT restaurants, complete with winter and Christmas decorations. Whether you are a small team dining à la carte or enjoying an extensive family-style buffet, we have a range of options for all guests, so that your celebration can be planned exactly according to your own ideas. Our special winter menus offer everything from two courses to a very exclusive three-course menu including a drinks package. You can also book additional highlights such as decorating an Advent wreath together, a henna artist or small gifts for all participants.

Get together in winter with authentic Indian food

Groups are welcome at all AMRIT restaurants and THE ORIGIN by AMRIT. Our special winter menus are available for booking during the pre-Christmas period and until the end of January. We are happy to take care of all the planning for your winter event or Christmas party. Enjoy a relaxed evening with delicious Indian food – everyone is catered for, as vegan and vegetarian options are always available and our Indian speciality chefs cook fresh for you and can therefore take all allergies and intolerances into account. You are also welcome to take something material with you as a souvenir, such as an Advent wreath designed together with our decorative artist or special AMRIT guest gifts. For all celebrations planned with us, we also design menu cards with your company name and a personal greeting.

If you prefer to celebrate in your own premises or have already booked a location, we will be happy to come to you. We offer both our AMRIT Catering for your event and our AMRIT food truck for large halls or your outdoor area. We tailor our catering to your wishes and present it for you and your guests in our copper chafing dishes. Even at a celebration with AMRIT Catering, we are happy to implement your ideas for winter decorations.

Your exclusive Christmas Party

At THE ORIGIN by AMRIT, you have exclusive use of the venue; we only rent out our smallest AMRIT venue to one group at a time. Here, you have complete creative freedom, including the choice of music, as there are no other guests. If you want to give a speech, present your annual financial statements in PowerPoint or simply enjoy exclusive privacy, this is the place for you. THE ORIGIN by AMRIT also offers you the space to get creative at your Christmas party or winter event. Whether it’s a joint craft activity or an Indian dance group, we will work with you to implement your desired design. In some of our AMRIT restaurants, you can also book semi-private areas exclusively, while still enjoying the cheerful atmosphere of all our guests – for the perfect mix of privacy and a lively evening.

AMRIT offers vegan food

In addition to our many vegetarian dishes, we also offer a selection of vegan options. Every day, there are always two vegan options available as part of our business lunch menu. Since the first AMRIT restaurant opened in 1996, we have continuously added new dishes to our menu, and the demand for vegan options has increased. Typical Indian dals are often vegan anyway. You will find our Amritsari Chole (chickpeas) or Yellow Daal Tadka (yellow lentils) on our menu.

Prejudices about vegan food – at AMRIT vegan is exciting and tasty

Veganism is considered trendy, which is why vegan dishes are sometimes met with prejudice. Our guests have different reasons for choosing to eat a diet free of animal products. Some want to improve their carbon footprint, others simply don’t like meat or can’t tolerate dairy products, or they care deeply about animals. However, some people are put off by the term and assume that vegan dishes are boring and tasteless. This is where our creative chefs come in. Our vegan food tastes great because we use the best fresh ingredients and our intense Indian spices. Be sure to try our No Chicken Malabari if you like it hot, or our Amchi Bengan Masala, aubergines in a masala spice mix with fresh basil, rounded off with coconut milk!

For groups of 10 or more, we offer our family-style buffets. These are table buffets for sharing, just like when you are a guest with family or friends. All dishes are placed in our copper kadais in the middle of the tables and everyone helps themselves. Since vegetarians can also eat vegan, but not vice versa, vegan options are included in all of our menus. On request, we can also make all menus vegan. Our goal is for all our guests to find dishes that suit their dietary requirements. Because we cook everything fresh, our Indian speciality chefs can cater to all allergies and intolerances. We also offer gluten-free dishes on request. In general, we always try to fulfil all our guests’ wishes.

Each event will be held in a private setting with only 20 guests – for a special and personal experience. The venue is the newly renovated AMRIT “THE ORIGIN” on Oranienstraße 203, featuring a stylish ambiance and a stunning “Living Wall” made of plants.

The story behind the partnership

After an extensive renovation and the reopening of the first AMRIT, we are excited to use this special place for exciting events – everything that brings joy and brings people together. Right next door, also on Oranienstraße, is the SUFF wine shop, where we first ordered our wines. We want to continue strengthening this unique neighborhood connection: Starting next year, we will again feature wines from SUFF on our menu.

In this context, the idea of creating a joint event was born. Both sides are excited about the unique concept of pairing Indian dishes with the perfect wines. We warmly invite you to join us for this experience or to gift it to your loved ones.

Easter Celebration in India

Easter is an important holiday for Christians around the world, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But did you know that Easter is also celebrated in India? Although India is predominantly a Hindu country, there is a significant Christian minority, making up about 2.3% of the population. These communities, primarily found in the south and northeast of India, celebrate Easter as an important religious holiday. The origins of Christianity in India date back to the 1st century, when the Apostle Thomas preached in southern India. Today, Christians in India belong to various churches, including the Roman Catholic Church, the Syro-Malabar Church, and the Syro-Malankara Church.

Traditions and customs

While Easter in India is generally celebrated similarly to other countries, there are some unique customs and traditions specific to the country. For example, in Kerala, a state in southern India, there is a traditional procession called “Easter Kanjeevaram,” where believers, dressed in traditional attire, walk through the streets and distribute sweet puddings to the poor and needy. Overall, the celebration of Easter in India reflects the country’s diversity and the people’s ability to respect and honor different cultures and traditions. We’ve been thinking again about how we can bring the “AMRIT Restaurant” even closer to you, so you can impress others with insider knowledge about Indian cuisine. Sure, you know where we get our milk from, that we make our own spices, and that our Mango Lassi is homemade. But we believe that your thirst for knowledge about Berlin’s most famous Indian restaurant is still not fully satisfied.

What is that, exactly…?

Starting February 18, 2022, you can look forward to a new category on our social media: the “MUST EAT” of the week, where we regularly showcase our delicious dishes from the menu of the “AMRIT Restaurants Berlin” in Kreuzberg, Mitte, Schöneberg, and Potsdamer Platz! Haven’t you ever wondered where, for example, our popular balloon bread, the “Bhatura,” originates from? Why a real “Tandoor” is essential for our “Chicken Tikka Masala”? Which region of India our dishes actually come from? And what made us choose these specific dishes?

However, there are also well-known Indian dishes that might not have made it onto our menu but are still very popular in our homeland, India, or are absolute hidden gems. We don’t want to withhold these from you either! Some dishes from “MIRCHI” will also be revived! Do you remember the vegetarian dish “Sing-Sing” with its green curry sauce? If you regularly enjoy our Business Lunch, this dish will surely be familiar to you. And why this dish made it onto the daily menu, we won’t keep from you. …and it’s finally paying off!

And here it is: after nearly 7 months of hard work, renovations, painting, cleaning, and decorating, we are finally able to complete our project and, with the reopening of our restaurants, introduce our URBAN JUNGLE.

In summer and winter

The building itself shines in new splendor. The carpet is gone, and the new gray tiles give our summer and winter garden a factory look, further enhanced by the new heating system and wall color. The garden will no longer be closed twice a year for extensive renovations, as in the future, the roof and windows can be fully opened and closed within 3 minutes, depending on the weather. Whether summer or winter – the garden for relaxation remains, and dining under the open sky is guaranteed!

We’ll see you soon – (in accordance with the COVID-19 regulations).

We’re eagerly looking forward to the reopening and can’t wait to see you all soon. The safety measures set by the state government to control the pandemic will remain in place.

Ingredients for preparation: – Amrits Spice Gewürz No. 2 – Oil for frying – 3 medium-sized onions, sliced – 1–4 garlic cloves – 2.5 cm ginger, roughly chopped – 3–4 green chilies – 3–4 green cardamom pods – 1 kg tomatoes, roughly chopped – 1/3 cup cashew nuts – A small handful of coriander leaves – Salt to taste – 2 tbsp vegan butter alternative

Instructions:

1. Heat some oil in a pan and fry the Planted Chicken-Nature until golden brown. Set aside.
2. In the same pan where the Planted Chicken was fried, add half of the Amrits Spice Gewürz No. 2 and toast it briefly.
3. Add the onions, garlic, ginger, chilies, and cardamom pods, and fry until the onions are golden brown.
4. Add the tomatoes, cashew nuts, coriander, salt, and the remaining Amrits Spice Gewürz No. 2, cook through, then blend the mixture until smooth. Cook the sauce with the vegan butter alternative until it thickens.
5. Add the fried Planted Chicken back into the sauce to heat.
6. Before serving, adjust the flavor with the vegan yogurt alternative and lemon juice for a creamy and slightly tangy taste.
7. Garnish with fresh mint and fresh coriander.

The delicious Planted Butter Chicken is now ready to serve. Enjoy your meal!

Who doesn’t secretly dream of a Bollywood wedding – at least a little? At AMRIT, the perfect place is offered to fulfill this dream. Indian ambiance, spicy and traditional dishes, Indian waiters (who are happy to dress in their traditional attire for you), and a touch of kitsch.

Indian Food for Weddings

Indian food is an excellent choice for a wedding celebration. Why? Because there’s something for every taste, it’s perfect for filling up a buffet, and it also offers the option to enjoy a cozy, family-style meal at the table together.

Traditional menu in family style

We will work with you to create a selected menu featuring classics from the AMRIT menu as well as exclusive creations from our head chef. The appetizers will be served on mixed platters and placed in the center of the tables. Our delicious dips will be served alongside. The curries for the main course will also be portioned into small khadais (bowls), so each guest can sample from every curry. The selected dessert will be served in a WECK jar.

Decoration & Music

The decoration will be designed by our event team according to your color preferences for your special day. From the color of the flowers and table linens to the design of the menu, we cater to your individual wishes. For the music, we will follow your taste and, depending on the budget, we are happy to provide a DJ with a dance floor.

We look forward to designing and planning your celebration according to your wishes. Martin will discuss the menu with you and conduct the tasting. He will be there for you until the event and even afterwards. As a trained chef, he will be able to give you excellent advice. Vijay & the AMRIT team will take care of everything on your big day, pulling all the strings and ensuring a smooth flow. Charlotte will take care of the floral decoration and setup in the restaurant for you.
