Restaurant Berlin Kreuzberg
The Bans brothers fulfilled their dream by founding their first Indian restaurant under the name AMRIT.
AMRIT stands for authentic Indian cuisine of the highest quality. While Berlin has many Indian restaurants, few offer as much space combined with such exceptional quality.
Restaurant Berlin Mitte
In 1999, with the support of their family, the brothers opened another Indian restaurant in the Berlin district of Mitte. In the meantime, AMRIT has made a name for itself in Berlin.
Anyone who wants traditional Indian cuisine goes to the AMRIT Restaurant. From day one until now, the two brothers have been personally involved.
Restaurant Berlin Schöneberg
This approach has proven successful, as the success allowed Balbir and Harmeet Bans to open another AMRIT in Berlin-Schöneberg four years later.
Coincidentally, Balbir had worked for a long time in Schöneberg near Winterfeldtplatz before opening their own restaurants and had grown fond of the area. For every opening of their Indian restaurants, even Balbir and Harmeets parents travel from Mumbai to Germany to bless the business.

Mobile Kitchen & Food Truck
The high demand for Indian food outside the home led the Bans family to rethink their approach. The mobile kitchen and food trucks were the answer.

THE ORIGIN by AMRIT
After the relocation of the first AMRIT a few doors down to a larger venue, the original restaurant was used as a kitchen for deliveries for a long time. That changed with the renovation in spring 2024. Now shining in a new light, the original AMRIT, under the new name “THE ORIGIN by AMRIT,” offers an exclusive event location for all occasions.
